Configurable Content

1. What is a semi-automatic defibrillator and how does it work?

A semi-automatic defibrillator like the Progetti Rescue SAM analyses the heart rhythm and advises when a shock is needed. The user is then prompted to press a button to deliver the shock. This gives the responder full control over when the shock is applied, helping to ensure safety during the rescue.

2. Is the semi-automatic version suitable for use in schools or public areas?

Yes. The Rescue SAM semi-automatic model is ideal for public access settings, including schools, libraries, offices and leisure centres. It provides clear step-by-step instructions and includes a shock button, giving users time to check the area is clear before delivering treatment.

3. Can the Rescue SAM be used in noisy or crowded environments?

Yes. The device combines spoken voice prompts with bright LED indicators to guide the user. This dual-feedback system makes it easier to follow the rescue process in loud, busy or high-stress locations such as sports venues or public transport hubs.

4. What happens if no shock is needed?

If the defibrillator detects a normal heart rhythm that doesn’t require a shock, it will inform the user and guide them to continue with CPR if needed. The Rescue SAM will not allow a shock to be delivered unless it is medically necessary.

5. Does the Rescue SAM include CPR timing support?

Yes. The device features a built-in metronome to help maintain the correct rhythm during chest compressions. It works alongside voice instructions to support effective CPR delivery, even for users without formal training.

6. Can the Rescue SAM be stored in outdoor environments?

Yes, but it must be housed in a suitable enclosure. We recommend using a heated outdoor cabinet for external installations or a wall-mounted indoor cabinet for sheltered areas. The defibrillator itself has an IP55 rating, offering good protection against dust and moisture.

7. How can I keep the defibrillator in ready condition?

The Rescue SAM performs regular self-checks and shows its status clearly via a flashing indicator. You’ll be alerted if the battery is low or if the pads are expired or disconnected. Replacements are easy to order and fit.

8. Is a child mode available on this version?

Yes. The Rescue SAM can be used on children by inserting a paediatric key and using dedicated paediatric electrode pads. This ensures the device delivers a lower energy shock suitable for younger patients. It’s important to have both adult pads and paediatric pads on hand if the defibrillator may be used in environments with children.

9. Can we get training for our staff or team?

Yes. While the device is designed to be used by anyone, we offer AED and CPR training options for organisations, schools and community groups who want to build confidence and be better prepared.

10. Should we register the device after installation?

Yes. You should register your defibrillator with The Circuit, the UK’s national defibrillator network. This allows 999 call handlers to direct emergency responders to your device if someone nearby suffers a cardiac arrest. Keeping your device listed and up to date helps save lives.
