Configurable Content | 1. Is it easy to use, even if no one is trained?Yes, this defibrillator is built for anyone to use, whether they’ve had training or not. When you turn it on, the FRx gives step-by-step voice instructions, telling you exactly what to do, from placing the pads to when to start CPR. We do recommend AED and CPR training, though. Even a short course can help people stay calm and act quickly, which could make all the difference in an emergency. 2. What makes the FRx different from other defibs? The Philips HeartStart FRx is known for being especially tough—it’s built to handle drops, splashes, and vibration. That makes it a great choice for active settings like schools, sports clubs, and construction sites. It also features:
You can browse FRx accessories including the child key on our site. 3. Can this defib be used on children?Yes. For children under 8 or under 25kg, you simply insert the infant/child key (sold separately). This tells the device to reduce the shock level, and you can still use the same adult pads, there’s no need to switch them out mid-rescue. 4. What does “semi-automatic” mean? The FRx is semi-automatic, which means the defib tells you when a shock is needed, but you’ll press the button to deliver it. You’re still guided through the entire process, it won’t let you shock unless it’s necessary. If you’d prefer a model that delivers the shock automatically without pressing anything, check out our range of fully-automatic defibs. 5. How do I know if the defib is ready to use?The FRx performs daily self-checks, and you’ll see a green blinking light when it’s ready. If there’s an issue, like the battery needs changing or the pads have expired, It will give both a visual and audio alert. Register your defib here for free service and maintenance reminders. 6. How long do the battery and pads last? The battery lasts up to 4 years in standby mode, and the electrode pads are usually replaced every 2 years. If the defib is used, you’ll need to replace both the battery and pads right away. 7. Where should this defib be installed? Thanks to its rugged build, the FRx is perfect for both indoor and semi-outdoor environments, like school playgrounds, sports facilities, or warehouses. For fully outdoor locations or public access, we recommend using a weatherproof defibrillator cabinet to protect it from the elements. 8. Do we need training to use the FRx?Not at all, the defib talks you through everything. But we do strongly recommend booking AED and CPR training, especially for workplaces, schools, or clubs. It helps people feel more confident and act faster in emergencies.
